Simulate one PWM control of induction motor using simulink in matlab

PRINCIPLE
Variable speed control of an electrical machine make use of forced commutator electronic switches such as IGBT,MOSFET,and GTO. Asynchronous machine fed by pulse width modulation voltage source converts etc..are now a days generally replacing the motor and thyristor bridges with PWM combines with modern control techniques such as field oriented control or direct torque control. We can obtain the same flexibility in speed and torque control as with dc machines.
The circuit for simulation obtained from “sin power system” library is shown in figure. It uses the blocks from the machine and power electronic library. The machines such as induction machines and can be used either in generator or in motor mode combined with linear and nonlinear element they can be used to calculate and simulate electromechanical transients in an electrical network. They can also be combined with power electronics devices to simulate drives.

Procedure
1.    Open a new window and save it.
2.    Open the power electronics library and copy the universal bridge on to the saved files
3.    Open the dialog box and set its parameters
4.    Open the machines library, copy the asynchronous machine. SI unit as well as the machine measurement demux blocks in to the saved files
5.    Open the asynchronous machine menu and look at its parameters they are set   for an 8hp, 60 Hz machine with two pair of poles. Its normal speed is therefore slightly  lower than synchronous speed or 1800 rpm (ws=188.5 rad/sec)
6.    Notice that the motor terminals a, b, and care made accessible during normal motor operation. there terminal should be short circuited together in the synchronous machine menu change the rotor type to squirrel cage. Notice that after this change the rotor connectors are no longer accessible
7.    Open the machine measurement demux block when this block is connected to the output.it allows specific internal signal of the machine first select asynchronous machine type deselect all signals except the following 3 signals ie: a, ,b, c (3 stator currents) wm(rotor speed)

Result

PWM control of induction motor was simulated using Simulink and waveforms were plotted
